In the Church of the Holy Cross, a giclee

May 10th, 2009

In the Church of the Holy Cross”
A statue inside of the Chapel of the Holy Cross, Sedona, Arizona; built by a Frank Lloyd Wright disciple in 1956.

This photo was taken by me during one of my father’s visits to Arizona. I wish I knew the story behind the statue and what the person depicted in the statue was holding at one time. It almost looks like he had a musical instrument. Look at the graceful position of the fingers on his left hand. Since he’s standing on rocks and thus outside, I suspect that he’s not playing an instrument but rather doing something else. Is he possibly a shepard, or is ‘he’ really a ’she’?

It has been suggested that this is Joan of Arc, originally holding a sword and staff, which is very possibly correct.

The nominal size on the unframed print is 16″ x 24″ but it’s available from 6.7″ x 10″ up to 32″ x 48″. The nominal finished framed size is 25.5″ x 33.5″.

The 2″ wide frame, “Distressed Black with Gold Bead” - is a traditional black frame with a beautiful gold beaded inner edge. The distressed outer panel angles down to meet the interior accent band. A scoop relieves the exterior side panel and adds a touch of sophistication.

The top mat is “Blackcore Seamist” (#1903), a soft gray beige mat with a black bevel and a lightly textured surface.  The second mat, “Blackcore Ivory Black” (#1901), is a deep black mat with a black bevel and a lightly textured surface.

The glazing is a protective acrylic, which is designed to block harmful UV rays.

Or if you prefer - tendrils, electrical discharges, plasma fields, firing synapses; what do you see? Some suggestions were bubble gum, Easter eggs, neurons, jellyfish & a Chambered Nautilus using illegal substances (lol!).

Featured Giclee Art Prints by Kinnally

May 6th, 2009

I have been fortunate enough to have several of my giclee art prints featured on the main page of the sites where I offer my work for sale. Today I was again featured on the front page of Imagekind and the piece they chose was “Reaction“. It’s a bright, colorful artwork with an ‘explosive’ look to it.

Reaction:

The nominal size on the unframed print is 24″ x 24″ but it’s available from 8″ x 8″ up to 44″ x 44″. The nominal finished framed size is 33.8″ x 33.8″.

The selected art paper is a Premium Luster Photo Paper that produces vivid, lifelike images with highly saturated prints. Its 10-mil base keeps the paper wrinkle-free.

Any of the artist selected mat, paper or other framing options can be easily changed if desired.

The frame, “W2 Zen Copper” - (not a copper frame, that refers to the appearance), is a contemporary tall angled profile that has a hammered, warm gold finish on top and a warm gold satin outer edge.

The top mat is “Cabernet”, a deep red with slight purple undertone and a rich sueded surface (#1609). The second mat is “Gold Bullion”, a dark gold with sponged bronze undertones and a smooth surface (#1205).

The glazing is a protective acrylic, which is designed to block harmful UV rays.

Again, these selections are easily changed.

Other artworks that have been featured by Imagekind on the front page are “Sinuosity #1“, “Angel’s Wing” and “Red Planet“, and at Redbubble, “Smooth Moves“. These are features that I happened to catch as I reviewed the sites, I don’t know if there were other times that the art was displayed without my knowledge.

In addition, my work has been promoted within Redbubble on numerous group pages and contests, too many to list here. Artworks such as “Dragon Skin” and “Gooey Chocolate Caramel Nougat #1” were featured on different sites for winning contests, one a monthly challenge with 165 entries and one a yearly museum sponsored art show with over 120 entries. Other artwork, for example “Rhino Ruminations” (an animal contest award winner), “Inner Secrets #1“, “A Little Splash of Color“, etc., have been featured on blogs and smaller websites.

It’s a great feeling to have my work accepted by a variety of art related sites and individuals, and I hope to be as successful in the future as I continue to submit my creations to various shows and contests. My sincere thanks to the people and companies involved, I truly appreciate the exposure!

Giclee Art Print Price Reduction

April 28th, 2009

I have made the decision to reduce the prices on most of my Limited Run fine art giclées, at least for the time being. This will preclude their sale in art galleries but offer a better financial option to my online customers. I will still offer both Limited and Open editions and there will be a price difference between the two for obvious reasons.

One out of every ten of my Limited Run art prints will still win a free print of their choice for the purchaser, even if they’ve only purchased one print!

Shellfish Dream“ - only 100 giclees available. Available in six sizes from 10″ x 7.5″ up to 58.7″ x 44″ and on eight types of art paper and two types of canvas. I’ve chosen default art paper and framing options to make things easier for a buyer, but those choices are readily changed or you may purchase the giclee print and have your local framer frame it for you.

I’ve dedicated this art to my sister, she loves shells!

The default framing size as shown is 41.8″ x 33.8″ overall (32″ x 24″ giclee print). The Satin Finish Premium Luster Photo Paper delivers highly saturated prints by offering maximum ink coverage and a high D-Max for true photographic reproductions. Its 10-mil base gives prints a photographic feel, and keeps the paper cockle-free.

The glazing is a UV protection acrylic which offers additional protection from harmful UV rays.

The “W2 Zen Copper” frame (not copper - a reference to the color only), 1 3/8 in. - 1.38″, has a contemporary tall angled profile with a hammered, warm gold finish on top and a warm gold satin outer edge.

The “Blackcore Seamist” mat is a soft gray beige with a black bevel and a lightly textured surface.

“Smooth Moves”, a Fine Art Giclee

February 23rd, 2009

This intriguing faux charcoal drawing is actually a piece of digital art.

Available only in a limited run of 100 pieces in total; any art paper/canvas, and any size. Similar to my other artwork (but not tinted) titled “Sinuosity #1″, the softly yielding curves of the main features, with their diagonal movement and smooth radiant sheen, are offset and complimented by horizontals and diagonals and a background with a rougher textured surface. This unique composition is appealing and unusual. The luscious flow is sensual, seductive and imaginative.

Smooth Moves, a fine art giclee

The default 2.5″ frame, “Magnificent Matte Black”, has a wide flat surface which steps down to a three quarter inch slope on the outer edge. The mats are two “Blackcore Snowflake” mats, which are a soft gray-white mat with a black bevel and a lightly textured surface. The selected art paper is Epson’s Premium Luster Photo Paper which produces vivid images and highly saturated prints. The glazing is a UV protection acrylic, which minimizes fading by harmful UV rays.

With these framing options the typical finished size is 36″ x 36″, but the artwork can be ordered in sizes from 8″ x 8″ up to 44″ x 44″, not including any framing. Any of these options can be changed, including simply purchasing a print or buying the art on canvas.

“Sirocco”, a Fine Art Giclee

February 22nd, 2009

“Sirocco” -
   Hot
      Dry
         Dusty
            Oppressive
               Burning
                  Wind…

'Sirocco', a giclee by Kinnally

Limited run of 100 pieces in total; any art paper/canvas, and any size.

See it larger Here. Then click on “Buying Options” (you don’t have to actually purchase to view the frame selections), and you can change the size, art paper or canvas, frame and mat to suit your particular taste, or purchase a print and have your local framer frame it to your taste.

The object in the center of this dynamic artwork, with its burned and crisped left edges, paper-like appearance, and with little burnt pieces blowing away off to the right,  conveys to the artist an image of an exceptionally hot wind - hence the name ‘Sirocco’. The heated interior and the orange glow around the object add to that sense of heat.

Wikipedia defines ‘Sirocco’ as:
“Sirocco, scirocco, jugo or, rarely, siroc is a Mediterranean wind that comes from the Sahara and reaches hurricane speeds in North Africa and Southern Europe. It is known in North Africa by the arabic word qibli (قبلی i.e. “coming from the qibla”.)”

The default double matted 2″  smooth frame, “Metropolitan Black with Gold”, has a raised 1/2 gold inner edge and a subtle red accent line on the outer edge.

The selected art paper is Epson’s Premium Luster Photo Paper which produces vivid images and highly saturated prints. The outter black core mat is a deep black mat with a black bevel and a lightly textured surface. The inner mat, “Miro”, is a deep bright red with a hint of orange and a smooth surface. The glazing is a UV protection acrylic, which minimizes fading by harmful UV rays.

“Touche Macrame”, a Fine Art Giclee

February 21st, 2009

Or “Touché Macramé” if you prefer. I gave it this title because to me the look of the ‘fabric’ reminds me of macrame, and the two sides are barely touching in the middle - just a little kiss.

See it larger and/or framed Here. Then click on “Buying Options” (you don’t have to actually purchase to view the frame selections), and you can change the size, frame and mat to suit your particular taste. It’s an open edition and inexpensively priced; all of my open edition artwork is in the “Open_Edition” gallery.

“Scorpio” - a giclee by Kinnally

February 20th, 2009

Here’s a unique globular creation with varying coloration, spirals and reflections! I titled it ‘Scorpio’ because it reminds me a bit of scorpion tails and galaxy clusters.
