Georgia O'Keeffe (November 15, 1887 - March 6, 1986) An American artist well known for her paintings of animal bones, southwest landscapes and flowers. Her powerful paintings often had strong contours and subtle tonal variations.
Georgia came from a large farmer family and devoted herself to art from an early age. She was first employed as design draftsman and art teacher. Alfred Stieglitz, her future husband, exhibited her work in his gallery in New York City. A decade later she discovered New Mexico and moved there in 1929.

"When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it's your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around so, they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not." ~Georgia O'Keeffe
